A conversation with Giulia
Giulia aspired to study at King’s College London since she was a student at high school. Her dreams came true when she discovered the online Marketing MSc. Not wanting to take time out of her career, Giulia enjoys the benefits of studying online with a world-renowned university from the comfort of her home. This is her experience.
King’s allowed me to study at my dream university, manage the workload with a full-time job and study the subject I’ve always wanted to do a Master’s in.
Tell me about yourself – why did you decide to study for a master’s with King’s College London?
Studying at King’s has been one of my dreams since the very beginning of high school. I wanted to become part of the wonderful community it’s known worldwide for. In addition, when the opportunity came for me to study my favourite subject at the university I’ve always wanted to study in, I immediately applied. I was over the moon when I got accepted, as it was truly a dream come true for me to do an MSc in Marketing at King’s College London.
What was your experience with the academic staff and the student support you received?
The availability of my Student Success Advisor has been one of my biggest supports since the very start of this degree. She’s always been available by email and regularly calls me to ask about the course, which gives me comfort and support.
Why did you choose an online course? How do you fit study in with your day-to-day life?
I chose to study online as I wouldn’t have been able to study full-time and move to London. King’s allowed me to study at my dream university, manage the workload with a full-time job and study the subject I’ve always wanted to do a Master’s in.
What modules have stood out for you, and why?
I’d say that all the modules have taught me many things that I’ve not been exposed to previously. In addition, as the course is designed to fit alongside my work life, every module teaches me new practical skills and theories that I can instantly implement in my work. The structure of the degree makes the course applicable, flexible and challenging at the same time.
Did you connect with other online students via the discussion board – how did you find this aspect of the course?
I’ve learnt so much from other students on the discussion boards. The examples described by my peers, all living in various countries, has allowed me to be more open-minded to the market around me, and I try to connect the subjects we learn in class to the contemporary business world.
What difference is this course going to make to your career?
By studying at King’s, I’m given opportunities that will last a lifetime. First of all, I’ll use the knowledge gained from the modules in my everyday life, and therefore, they will be with me in my future career. Also, as part of the King’s Alumni, I’ll be able to stay connected to other students after graduation, always be in touch with the university and, most importantly, always be part of the King’s community.
If you could summarise your experience with King’s in a few words, what would they be?
Rewarding: hard work pays off at King’s, which makes a student work their hardest. Goals are achieved if the workload is put in.
Unique: the way that I’ve been studying (online) has meant that I’ve met people from all over the world, and studying at one of the top universities is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that I’ll always be grateful for.
